Pardo, from New Paris, Ohio, started fourth in the first Eldora stock feature, but took the lead early and never looked back. Rob Trent was second, while Frank Paladino, Donnie Jeschke and Red Harvey Jr., rounded out the top-five. The second feature was a far harder task for Pardo, however, as he started 14th, thanks to an inversion of the lead lap cars from the first A-Feature. Brandon Archey, from Versailles, Ohio, led early before being chased down by Chris Douglas from Lima, Ohio. Douglas paced the field until a caution flag on the ninth lap. Pardo got by him on the ensuing restart leading the final six laps to claim his second victory of the night. “It’s pretty impressive, especially coming from 14th in the second race,” Pardo said. “I knew on that last restart that if the car stayed under me we had it. The first race was pretty simple, but the second one we had to work for it. Great night for the team.” Chris Douglas, who started ninth, was second, while Rob Trent, who started 13th was third. Barney Craig and Frank Paladino rounded out the top-five. August 15 DIRTcar Modified winner: Jonathan Taylor Taylor started 14th in the Modifieds, but quickly worked his way to the front and had a fierce battle with Scott Williams and Shawn Valenti. Williams lead early, but hit the outside wall in turn three and saw his chance at victory go away. He finished 10th. Ed Roley who started ninth was second, while Valenti, Jason Kinney and Curt Spalding rounded out the top-five. “It’s amazing,” said Taylor, who comes from Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. “The track was amazing. Loved it. Tony Stewart and everybody that works on this track – they are amazing. Thanks to all these fans that come out as well. We couldn’t race without you.” The race started with a 10 car accident on lap 1 in the first turn which saw Brandon Vaughan’s car flip over. There were no injuries. The night ended with the largest fireworks show in Eldora history, which received an enthusiastic ovation from the large crowd on hand. The racing continues at Eldora tomorrow, but at the 1/7th-mile “Little E,” with the Salute the Kings Royal Go-Kart race. The drivers meeting starts at 11:15 am (EDT) with racing starting at 12:30 pm.
