Giant Crowd Witnesses Wild Sprint Car, Modified, Stock Car and Giant Fireworks Show

ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 19, 2018) – With spring weather wreaking havoc upon the schedules of America’s motorsports industry, Eldora officials stayed the course through heavy thunderstorms Saturday afternoon and it resulted in the largest crowd in history of $8 Family FIREWORKS Night presented by Casey’s General Stores.

Full event results, including Feature Race highlights, photos and videos are posted at: https://www.eldoraspeedway.com/event_coverage/2018-ffn-1/

Todd Heuerman, of Leipsic, took the lead from Cloverdale’s Jared Horstman with three laps remaining to score his first Eldora win in the National Racing Alliance (NRA) Sprint Invaders Feature event.

Jacob Hawkins, of Fairmont, West Virginia, won his second DIRTcar UMP Modified Feature of the season at Eldora by passing Saltsburg, Pennsylvania’s Jonathan Taylor with six laps to go.

Eldora veteran Earnie Woodard, of Georgetown, Kentucky, captured his first Eldora Stock Car win of 2018 when he passed defending champion Gary Rahe, Jr., of Cincinnati, as the flagman flashed the five-to-go signal.

Three red flags stopped the NRA Sprint Invaders feature race including a violent flip involving Cincinnati’s Chris Olding. Olding was evaluated and released from the Premier Health Infield Care Center. He later returned and was transport to local hospital for transport.

The next event on Eldora Speedway’s calendar is the Johnny Appleseed Classic by Miller Lite this coming Sunday, May 27, featuring the Sunoco American Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds and Eldora Stock Cars.
