Saturday Night Deadline For World 100 Camping Reservations

Fewer Than 190 Campsites Remain At Eldora Village; Landrush For Lot 5 Free Camping Friday At 6 p.m.

pr_3june16ROSSBURG, Ohio (September 1, 2016) – With a record number of camping reservations for the 46th running of the World 100 on September 8-9-10, race fans have until Saturday night (September 3rd) at midnight to stake claim to a waiting campsite at Eldora Speedway. Approximately 190 remained as of noon on Thursday.

Beginning Sunday, remaining campsites in Eldora Village will be assigned as available to drive-up guests. While reserved camping in Northside Camp & Park is sold out, camping attendants have marked off an additional 32 campsites suitable for RVs and trailers for drive-up guests and Row 11 remains available to tent campers.

The traditional Lot 5 Landrush for the free camping located in Lot 5 of Eldora’s main grounds will take the green flag at 6 p.m. this Friday night (September 2nd).

Racing action for the week begins Sunday night (September 4th) with the Baltes Classic honoring Eldora’s founders, the late Earl Baltes and his wife Berneice. Sunoco American Late Models, DIRTcar UMP Modifieds, Eldora Stocks and the largest fireworks show in Speedway history is on tap with sponsorship from Coors Light and Homestretch Sportswear.

Preliminary action for the World 100 kicks off Thursday night (September 8th) with a full program and Twin 25 lap features paying $10,000-to-win. Using an ‘Every Lap Matters’ format, competitors will score points on Thursday and again on Friday in qualifying, heat races and their feature event seeding them into Saturday’s traditional six heat races determining the starting lineup for the World 100.

A record $389,800 in prize money is up for grabs with $49,000 going to the winner of the 100-lap race. Earl Baltes first posted $4,000 for the winner of the inaugural World 100 in 1971 and pledging to add $1,000 to the winner’s purse each year following.
