Press Release Kent Robinson, Brian Ruhlman And Earnie Woodard Claim Baltes Classic Honors September 5, 2016September 5, 2016 EldoraPR Uncategorized Kent Robinson, Brian Ruhlman And Earnie Woodard Claim Baltes Classic Honors Large Holiday Crowd Witnessed 131 Racers And Spectacular Fireworks To Kickoff World 100 Week Kent Robinson collected the ALMS victory on Sunday ROSSBURG, Ohio (September 4, 2016) – Battling a soft brake pedal, Bloomington, Indiana’s Kent Robinson fended off a furious charge by six-time World 100 champion Billy Moyer and Richmond, Indiana’s Duane Chamberlain to win Sunday night’s Baltes Classic by Coors Light and Homestretch Sportswear at Eldora Speedway. Robinson passed Ada’s Jon Henry for the lead on lap-14 as Moyer was charging forward from the eighth starting position. Moyer executed a crossover move on Chamberlain to take the second position and chased Robinson down while running the track’s heavy cushion. Seventh starting Jimmy Mars joined the four-way battle for the lead until a caution for debris on lap-22 calmed the frenzy. Robinson again took the lead on the running the high-line. With two laps to go, the trio of Robinson, Moyer and Chamberlain were three-wide for the lead coming to the white flag. Robinson held on for the $3,000 victory, followed by Moyer, Chamberlain, Mars and North Carolina’s Nick Hoffman. Sunoco American Late Model Series points leader Rusty Schlenk broke a right rear hub while leading the B-Feature and flipped wildly in Turn 1. He was evaluated and released from the Premier Health Infield Care Center. Schlenk used a Sunoco ALMS provisional to start the A-Feature in Jesse Playter’s #9* car. The DIRTcar UMP Modified division raced three and four-wide all night long but Clark Lake, Michigan’s Brian Ruhlman led the lap that counted. Coldwater’s Ryan Sutter jumped to the lead from the outside of the front row before seventh starting Evan Taylor, Saltsburg, Pennsylvania, executed a slide-job pass for the lead on lap-9. Taylor set sail before mechanical issues slowed him with two laps remaining. As Taylor struggled around the bottom of the speedway, Jesse Wisecarver and Ruhlman passed him three-wide for the lead in Turn 2 of the white flag lap. With Wisecarver on the cushion, Ruhlman went to the bottom and just claimed the checkers at the line. Joel Dick finished third while Jonathan Taylor just edged his Evan Taylor for fourth. In Eldora Stock action, Lima’s Rob Trent led the first lap before Richmond, Indiana’s Paul Pardo pulled a slide-job to take the lead on lap-2. Trent stalked his championship rival as eighth starting Earnie Woodard joined the fray. Trent regained the lead from Pardo on a lap-10 restart while Woodard chose to run a tricky cushion and chase down the leaders. Woodard would pass Pardo for second as the field worked lap-12 and battled side by side with Trent for the lead until a lap-13 caution. On the restart, Woodard would eventually power his way past Trent for the win. Pardo finished third with Josh Frye and Jordan Conover rounding out the top-five. The Tony Stewart Foundation 50/50 Raffle benefitting Racing For Relief paid $4,327.50 to the winner.
