Press Release EXCITEMENT OF 2012 SEASON FUELS ANTICIPATION OF 2013 ELDORA CAMPAIGN December 20, 2012December 20, 2012 EldoraPR Press Releases Event Expansion, Facility Improvements and New Events to Highlight 60th Season ROSSBURG, OH (Dec. 20) — As the calendar pages of 2012 wind down, the anticipation for the arrival of the 2013 season at Eldora Speedway is running at a feverish pace; fueled by the success and excitement generated through the 2012 campaign. Leading the way were memorable moments and breathtaking racing during Eldora’s traditional marquee events: Shane Clanton’s surprising domination of the Dirt Late Model Dream as the balance of the field battled behind him; 14 exchanges of the lead amongst four drivers in the Kings Royal before Sammy Swindell fended off a hard-charging Kerry Madsen; Brian Birkhofer scoring a popular victory as he captured his second World 100 in the 42nd running of dirt racing’s biggest event; and Kyle Busch finally getting his coveted Eldora win in the Feed The Children Prelude to the Dream. It did not stop there. From the first World of Outlaws Sprint Car show in May, to the wild UMP DIRTcar Modifieds and Eldora Stocks Family Fun Nights, to July’s 50th Anniversary of USAC Special, to the Four Crown Nationals and an epic UMP DIRTcar National Championships, it was certainly an action-packed season at the famed ‘Big E’ featuring some of the best racing witnessed in years on the high-banked .500-mile clay oval. The chase for the season championship titles contained their own suspense as Jeep VanWormer (UMP DIRTcar Late Models), Joey Kramer (UMP DIRTcar Modifieds) and Barney Craig (Stock Cars) all had to wait until the ultimate laps of their final features to clinch titles. Using the accelerant of the 2012 campaign, Eldora officials have been busy putting the finishing touches on 2013 and the historic speed plant’s 60th season; one that will include an expansion of the Dirt Late Model Dream (June 6-7-8) and World 100 (September 5-6-7) weekends along with a milestone moment that will see NASCAR’s first national dirt race since September of 1970 when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series contest the Inaugural Mudsummer Classic on Wednesday, July 24. The new season will also see a return of Eldora to Ohio Sprint Speedweek (June 22) for the first time since 2009. Two new family events and the expansion of a longtime traditional Eldora event will be announced in the coming weeks. The scheduling enhancements will be complemented with a continuation of facility improvements to keep Eldora one of the most fan-friendly speedways in the country including new Musco Lighting along the famous frontstretch. Race fans can keep abreast of the 2013 season in a multitude of ways including www.eldoraspeedway.com, Twitter, Facebook or through the new iPhone and Android Apps available for free download.
