Boespflug Wins USAC Sprint Car Event In Front of Large Crown for #LetsRaceTwo
ROSSBURG, Ohio (May 7, 2016) – Australian driver Kerry Madsen swept the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series weekend at Eldora Speedway leading all 30 laps of Saturday night’s #LetRaceTwo Feature race.
Madsen, the 2014 Kings Royal winner, also scored a victory in Friday night’s race matching Donny Schatz’s feat from 2015.
“We’ve been quick all year, but we just haven’t been able to showcase it,” Madsen said. “The guys did great. This thing was a rocket ship all weekend. To get two wins is fantastic. I’ve got to thank all the guys. I almost junked it once, but we were able to come out on top.”
Chad Kemenah, from Findlay, Ohio challenged Madsen before settling for second for the second night in a row after moving up from his 11th starting spot. Pole sitter Daryn Pittman was third, while David Gravel and Shane Stewart rounded out the top-five.
Chad Boespflug scored a big victory in the USAC Sprint Car division after starting on the pole and leading all 30 laps.
It was his second USAC Sprint Car victory and his first at Eldora.
“This is huge,” said Boespflug, who hails from Plainfield, Indiana. “I did some ride jumping last year and I kind of had it in my mind that I wanted to do my own thing. It’s hard and it costs a lot of money, so to get another win, especially here is great. I was telling people I didn’t want to be a one-hit wonder. I guess we’re not that now.”
Brady Bacon, from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, started 10th and worked his way to a second place finish. Thomas Meseraull, from San Jose, California, started ninth and ended up third. C.J. Leary started 13th and finished fourth, while Tyler Courtney started 12th and finished fifth.
There were several stoppages during the USAC race including a large accident on lap three when reigning series champion, Robert Ballou, from Rocklin, California, and Chris Windom, from Canton, Illinois collided as they entered turn two. Friday’s USAC Sprint Car winner Bryan Clauson was also involved as all three cars were in the top-six. Ballou and Windom’s cars were done, while Clauson rallied to finished sixth.
Late in the race, Dallas Hewitt, from Troy, Ohio got together with Cole Ketcham in turn four.
The next race on tap for Eldora is the Aaron’s Family FIREWORKS Night on May 21 featuring the UMP Modifieds and the Eldora Stock Cars.
Admission gates will open at 5 p.m. (EDT), with hot laps 6:30 p.m. and a complete racing program beginning at 7:30 p.m. There will be an autograph session in the fan zone at 5 p.m. There will also be a bounce house, balloon twisting clowns and other assorted activities. Following the racing, the largest fireworks show in Eldora history will take place.
Tickets can be bought at www.EldoraSpeedway.com, by phone at (937) 338-3815 or at the box office at the race track. It’s just $8 for adults and kids 12 and under are free.
